How can you soften a black-and-white bathroom?
Your black-and-white bathroom is neat, but feels cold or too strongly contrasted. Before considering new tiles, look at towels, lighting and surfaces that remain free.
A few materials and one chosen colour can change the atmosphere. Here is how to introduce them without cluttering the room or putting decoration in water-exposed areas.

What makes the room feel too harsh?
Black and white can create very different effects depending on their distribution. A chequered floor, visible grout and a large mirror already create many lines. Smooth black fronts and an uninterrupted white wall give another impression. First identify the dominant surface: it is easier to provide a precise counterpoint than to add accessories at random.
Bathroom prints offer varied subjects, to be installed only in a suitable area. Do not choose a picture before its position. Particularly observe splashes from basin and shower, repeated steam and any condensation on the proposed wall.
Which colour should you add to textiles?
Towels occupy visible space and are easy to replace when needed. Muted green, medium blue or earthy pink can soften the whole according to floor colour and lighting. Choose one main family rather than one of every colour. Textiles do not need to be identical, but their relationship should be easy to read.
Green prints can repeat that direction, while pink pictures introduce different warmth. Blue compositions suit that pairing if you like it, without requiring a nautical motif. Test colours under your real lighting: a sample pleasant in the living room may look different here.
Is wood a good idea in this room?
A small amount of wood can interrupt smooth surfaces and tile contrasts. But choose furniture or accessories intended for their use, follow care instructions and check the position. Being made of wood alone does not establish that an object tolerates humidity or repeated splashes. Do not add a fragile stool merely to achieve a pretty photograph.
A plant drawing can also introduce variety of form. Botanical prints and fern motifs answer that desire without occupying the vanity top. If you already have wooden furniture, our guide to combining light and dark woods helps choose the other elements.
How can you change lighting without replacing the whole installation?
Look separately at mirror lighting and the rest of the room. A direct source can create uncomfortable tile reflections or strengthen contrasts. Check adjustment options and bulbs compatible with your fittings. For any electrical change in this room, have equipment and its position checked by a competent person.
Avoid masking useful light with a decorative object or improvised curtain. You must retain lighting suited to actions at the mirror. Black-and-white pictures can extend the existing palette; choose a composition whose outlines and values bring something different from the tiles.

Black UndulationsView the printWhich picture subject can soften the decor?
Plants are not the only possibility. A flower print with soft outlines, a seaside scene or line drawing give three distinct effects. In an already graphic room, a picture with calm areas can be easier to read than a composition full of small details.
View the picture from the basin and door. If the frame is hidden by a door leaf or reflected awkwardly in the mirror, change its position. A single clearly visible picture may be enough. You do not need to repeat the same theme on the soap dispenser, rug and shower curtain.
Where should you put the print to preserve its condition?
Choose a dry area away from splashes, direct heat and repeated steam. A frame or metal material should not be assumed waterproof. If conditions are difficult throughout the room, place the picture outside near the door instead. Decoration does not justify installing a product in an unsuitable spot.
Our guide to hanging a print in a bathroom details those precautions. Check the material and options actually selected on the Affichely product page, then use fixings suitable for wall and weight. A frame visible in a room setting does not prove it is part of the order.
What should you remove to make the bathroom more welcoming?
Group daily products and store reserves. Bottles in every colour can create more visual disorder than the black-and-white tiles themselves. Keep useful surfaces clear for a towel or belongings. Once that space is recovered, add textiles first and then the chosen picture if the location allows. You will see more clearly what improves the room without making maintenance an extra burden.
If the floor already has small contrasting tiles, try plain textiles before adding another pattern. You can then judge whether the picture needs detail or simply a larger area of colour.
