Posters Madrid

Madrid as seen by our artists: the ochre facades with wrought-iron balconies, the rooftops of the centre and the crisp light of Castile. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm semi-matte photo paper in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Madrid poster

Which Madrid poster should you choose?

Madrid comes in several distinct styles, carried by recognisable places and looks:

  • Vintage Madrid poster: old travel typography, a sepia or pastel palette.
  • Gran Vía or Puerta de Alcalá: iconic landmarks, an architectural framing.
  • Madrid map poster: an illustrated plan of the city, districts and streets named.
  • Minimalist Madrid poster: skyline silhouette, flat colours, a clean line.
  • Black and white Madrid poster: urban photography, a marked contrast.
  • Plaza Mayor or Royal Palace: a classic perspective, façades and arcades.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by size.

Where should you hang a Madrid poster?

  • Living room: the skyline in a large horizontal format, above the sofa.
  • Office: a map of Madrid, understated, next to the screen.
  • Entrance: a vintage poster, to set the tone from the doorway.
  • Bedroom: a minimalist version in soft colours, never too sharp a contrast.
  • Hallway: a black and white series, in the same format from start to finish.

Horizontal or vertical Madrid poster?

A skyline or an avenue such as the Gran Vía reads better horizontally, on a wide wall. A single monument, a gate, a tower, gains presence vertically, in a narrower space. On a wall that is already busy, we recommend a single vertical format rather than a horizontal composition that needs more distance.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
