Posters Casablanca

Casablanca as seen by our artists: wrought-iron balconies, canvases stretched against the sun, turquoise zellige and cream and ochre façades. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Casablanca poster

Which Casablanca poster should you choose?

Casablanca comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Hassan II mosque poster: the minaret at the edge of the Atlantic, alone or in perspective.
  • Art deco Casablanca poster: white facades from the thirties, ironwork, curves.
  • Vintage Casablanca poster: liner and aviation advertisements, a forties feel.
  • Casablanca map or city plan poster: the port, the medina, the boulevards traced in line.
  • Morocco and Casablanca poster: zellij tiles, doorways, palms, an earth and blue palette.
  • Black and white Casablanca poster: the white city in contrast, without colour.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Casablanca poster?

  • Living room: a view of the mosque over the ocean, alone above the sofa.
  • Entrance: a vintage advertisement, which sets the travelling tone from the door.
  • Office: an art deco facade, geometric and calm beside the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of three Moroccan cities, same size and same frame.
  • Bedroom: an earth and sand palette, never a contrast that is too hard.

Tip: the white of Casablanca needs a ground that sets it down. On a white wall, give it a black frame or a coloured mount.

Casablanca poster: vintage or contemporary?

  • The period advertisement keeps the lettering and the flat colours of its time.
  • The contemporary version takes the same motifs with today's line and palette.
  • On a classic wall, with wood and mouldings, the vintage one agrees more naturally.
  • On a plain wall, the contemporary one holds alone and takes a large size.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
