Posters frankfurt
Frankfurt as seen by our artists: the layout of the city, the curve of the Main and the star-shaped ramparts. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your Frankfurt poster
What does our Frankfurt poster show?
Two posters make up this section, and both treat the city as a plan rather than a view:
- The old town by the river: the layout of the streets, the curve of the Main and the star-shaped ramparts.
- The plan as a scatter of dots: the same territory reduced to a grid, where the built fabric becomes pattern.
This is a cartographic reading of Frankfurt, not a postcard: these are images to be looked at from close up.
Which wall colour for a Frankfurt poster?
- A plan reads better on a neutral wall: white, light grey, linen. A coloured wall competes with the drawing.
- On a dark wall the pale ground of the plan becomes a luminous surface and the pattern stands out clearly.
- A thin frame, black or light wood, suits it. A wide moulding eats the edge of the drawing.
- Study, hallway and living room all work, with a preference for the study, where people come near.
One poster or both?
- The two plans form an obvious pair: the same subject, two levels of reading.
- On its own, the dotted plan works as an abstract image and pairs with other graphic pieces.
- With other city plans, hold to one size and one frame: it is the series that creates the effect.
How are these posters printed?
Each poster is printed to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, using low-emission inks. It comes in 21x30, 30x40, 50x70 and 70x100 cm, on its own or with its frame.
