Choosing the right cypress poster

Which cypress poster to choose?

The cypress comes in several distinct registers, which call for different walls or moods:

  • Solitary cypress poster: an isolated vertical silhouette, often backlit at sunset, for a clean, graphic composition.
  • Row of cypresses: a tree-lined avenue that structures a perspective, guiding the eye towards a distant vanishing point.
  • Mediterranean landscape: Tuscan or Provençal hills, lavender fields or vineyards in the background, cypresses as vertical accents.
  • Botanical study: a more graphic rendering, detailed foliage, palette of dark greens.
  • Cypress at sunset: gradient sky, black silhouettes cut out.
  • Cypress along a Tuscan or Provençal road: a pastoral register, warm light.

Vertical or horizontal cypress poster?

The cypress grows upwards, which naturally calls for a vertical format, especially for an isolated silhouette or a detailed botanical study. A row or a landscape with several trees suits a horizontal format better, leaving room for perspective and the landscape background. The choice also depends on the available wall: a narrow, tall space calls for the vertical format, while a wide wall above a sofa is better suited to the horizontal one.

Poster, print or canvas: what's the difference?

The three words here describe the same thing: a printed image you hang on the wall. We call it a poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
