Posters summer

Summer as seen by our artists: parasols, ripe fruit and the white light of noon. Each poster is a personal reading of nature, hand-printed on 270 gsm semi-matte photo paper in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your summer poster

Which summer poster should you choose?

  • Mucha summer poster: the woman with golden wheat ears by the Art Nouveau painter, from the seasons series.
  • Alphonse Mucha summer poster: pastel palette, sinuous line, floral motif framing the figure.
  • Retro summer poster: seaside advertisement, period lettering, warm colours.
  • Kikujiro's Summer poster: blue sky, country road, Japanese film atmosphere.
  • Summer 85 poster: navy blue and sunset pink palette, holiday and seaside spirit.
  • Wheat fields and warm light: a pictorial take on the season, with no figure or character.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by artist and by mood.

Where should you hang a summer poster?

  • Living room: a bright large format, to extend the season all year round.
  • Bedroom: a soft Mucha-style palette, soothing above the bed.
  • Kitchen or dining room: warm tones, wheat and light, near the table.
  • Entrance: what sets the tone from the doorstep, the spirit of a sunlit home.
  • Office: a touch of summer colour facing the screen.

Summer poster in a large format or as a series?

A single large format carries the whole wall, with a figure or a landscape strong enough to hold the room at a distance. A series of two or three posters, in the same palette, works better on a wide wall or in a hallway. For a Mucha poster or a vintage advertisement, the thin frame highlights the line and the original lettering.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
