Posters Airplane

Airplane as seen by our artists: the silhouettes seen from below, the white contrails in the sky and the bold flat colours of the travel poster. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm semi-matte photo paper in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your airplane poster

Which aircraft poster should you choose?

  • Fighter jet poster or Rafale poster: aggressive silhouette, clear sky, an effect of power.
  • Concorde Air France poster: pointed nose and white fuselage, a symbol of civil aviation.
  • Airliner poster or Airbus A380: large cabin format, clean lines, a sober palette.
  • Vintage airplane poster or vintage aviation: airline advertisement, period typography, a pin-up or advertising tone.
  • Black and white airplane poster: cockpit or fuselage in close-up, contrasted rendering.
  • Glider poster: light silhouette, clear sky, a calmer register than the fighter jet.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by era and by aircraft type.

Where should you hang an airplane poster?

  • Office: an airliner poster or a cockpit, understated next to the screen.
  • Living room: a Rafale or a Concorde in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Child's or teenager's bedroom: a fighter jet in colour, a dynamic register.
  • Hallway: a series of vintage aviation posters, same size, same palette.
  • Entrance: an airline poster, to set the tone from the doorway.

Airplane poster in colour or in black and white?

Black and white brings out the mechanics: rivets, cockpit, fuselage structure, and suits a wall that is already busy. Colour restores an airline's identity or the sparkle of a vintage advertisement, and carries more of a period atmosphere. On a desk or a neutral wall, black and white remains the safest choice; for a living room that wants a focal point, colour wins out.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
