Posters Bratislava

Bratislava as seen by our artists: the castle on its hill, its four corner towers and the line of the Danube. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Bratislava poster

Which Bratislava poster should you choose?

Bratislava comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Bratislava castle poster: the white block and its four towers, above the Danube.
  • Line-drawn Bratislava poster: St Martin's cathedral, old town roofs, a pared-back drawing.
  • Bratislava map or city plan poster: the river, the bridges, the districts traced in line.
  • Black and white Bratislava poster: baroque facades, marked contrasts, without colour.
  • Danube poster: the river as the subject, from Vienna to Budapest by way of the city.
  • Vintage Bratislava poster: old advertisements, a Central European feel, sepia tones.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Bratislava poster?

  • Living room: a view of the castle above the Danube, alone above the sofa.
  • Office: a line drawing of the old town, calm beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a map of Bratislava, to place the city from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three Danube capitals, same size and same frame.
  • Bedroom: a settled view of the river, with no dense architectural detail.

Tip: the white of the castle disappears on a white wall. Give it a black frame, or a slightly tinted wall.

Bratislava poster: line drawing or colour?

  • The line holds the silhouette: the four towers, the cathedral spire, the line of the river.
  • Colour returns the atmosphere: evening sky over the Danube, ochre of the baroque facades.
  • At a small size, the line stays legible where a coloured image closes up.
  • At a large size on a bare wall, colour carries alone and gives the room its light.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
