Posters elephant

Elephants as seen by our artists: soft silhouettes, pastel bestiaries and graphic lines. Each poster is a personal reading of the animal, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your elephant poster

Which elephant poster should you choose?

The elephant comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same room:

  • Black and white elephant poster: marked contrast, a silhouette, no colour to distract.
  • Colour elephant poster: ochres, warm greys, a safari palette.
  • Baby elephant poster: round ears, raised trunk, a touching register for a child's room.
  • Animal portrait: a close-up on the head, the eye, the folds of the skin.
  • Elephant in the savannah: a herd, dust, raking light.
  • Graphic and minimalist line: a pared-back shape, a simple stroke, a single flat colour.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang an elephant poster?

  • Child's room: a baby elephant poster, soft and round, above the bed.
  • Living room: a black and white portrait in a large size, for a restrained presence.
  • Main bedroom: a colour elephant, warm and discreet, away from too graphic a subject.
  • Office: a minimalist line, which does not load the eye.
  • Entrance or hallway: a series of two or three elephants in the same style.

Tip: a subject as present as the elephant carries better in black and white on a wall already full of furniture or colour.

Elephant poster or large-format wall poster?

  • The 30x40 and the 50x70 suit a portrait, where the animal's eye must stay legible close up.
  • The giant elephant poster, in 70x100 or as a 100x140 polyptych, asserts itself on a living-room wall left bare, where the whole silhouette needs space.
  • A thin frame brings out the contrast of a black and white; a wider frame suits a colour palette.
  • We print each poster on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish, so that the grain of the skin and the shades of grey stay sharp under the light.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
