Girona as seen by our artists: the wrought-iron balconies, the flights of steps and the coloured houses along the Onyar. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.
Choosing your Girona poster
Which Girona poster should you choose?
Girona comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:
- Onyar houses poster: the coloured facades along the river, yellows, ochres and reds.
- Girona cathedral poster: the monumental staircase and the baroque facade, seen from below.
- Girona map or city plan poster: the Onyar, the bridges, the Jewish quarter traced in line.
- Black and white Girona poster: the lanes of the Call, ramparts, contrasts without colour.
- Catalonia and Girona poster: Costa Brava, Pyrenees, an earth and sea palette.
- Contemporary Girona poster: flat colour areas, graphic illustration, a present-day line.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a Girona poster?
- Living room: the Onyar houses in a large size, alone above the sofa.
- Kitchen: the yellow and ochre palette wakes a pale wall without loading it.
- Entrance: a map of Girona, to place the city from the door.
- Office: a line drawing of the ramparts, calm beside the screen.
- Hallway: a series of three Catalan cities, same size and same frame.
Tip: a coloured facade asks for a neutral wall. On a yellow or terracotta wall, prefer black and white, or move to a dark frame.
Girona poster in colour or in black and white?
- Colour is the very subject of Girona: the Onyar facades exist through their shades.
- Black and white moves the interest to the stone: staircases, arches, ramparts.
- On a bare, pale wall, colour carries alone and sets the room's temperature.
- On an already coloured wall, black and white avoids two palettes fighting each other.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
