Posters Graz

Graz as seen by our artists: the red roofs packed at the foot of the hill and the windows that open onto them. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Graz poster

Which Graz poster should you choose?

Graz comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Clock tower poster: the Uhrturm on the Schlossberg, the city's most recognisable silhouette.
  • Graz rooftops poster: the sea of red tiles of the old town, seen from the hill.
  • Kunsthaus poster: the blue bubble set beside the Mur, contemporary architecture.
  • Graz map or city plan poster: the Mur, the floating island, the districts traced in line.
  • Black and white Graz poster: arcaded courtyards, Schlossberg stairs, contrasts without colour.
  • Austria and Graz poster: Styria, green hills, a forest and earth palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Graz poster?

  • Living room: a view of the red roofs from the Schlossberg, alone above the sofa.
  • Office: the clock tower in line, a simple, calm subject beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a map of Graz, to place the city from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three Austrian cities, same size and same frame.
  • Bedroom: a settled view of the Mur, never an over-detailed roofscape.

Tip: a sea of red roofs reads better on a cool wall, grey or pale blue, which stops the red from turning orange.

Graz poster: historic or contemporary?

  • The historic register holds the Uhrturm, the arcades and the roofs, recognisable at first glance.
  • The contemporary register keeps the Kunsthaus and the island on the Mur, free blue forms.
  • On a classic wall, the old town agrees with a wooden frame without effort.
  • In a pared-back interior, the contemporary form holds alone and takes a large size.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
