Hanover as seen by our artists: the town hall dome in silhouette and the upward thrust of the tower. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your Hanover poster
What does our Hanover poster show?
Two posters make up this section, and both start from the same building, the new town hall:
- The dome as a cast shadow: the silhouette alone, reduced to its shape, with no detail.
- The tower in full ascent: the same architecture seen from below, in a retro spirit.
A silhouette and an upward thrust: two ways of treating a monument, one through emptiness, the other through the vanishing line.
Which wall colour for a Hanover poster?
- The minimalist silhouette wants a light wall and space around it: emptiness is what holds it together.
- The retro low-angle view stands a strong wall, green, terracotta or blue, which extends its old-poster feel.
- A thin black frame suits both; light wood softens the first and weakens the second.
- Study, living room and hallway all work. The low-angle view also works in a teenager's room.
One poster or both?
- Together they read as a before and after of the same gaze: hang them at the same size, side by side.
- On its own, the silhouette calls for a large format and a bare wall.
- With other German cities, the low-angle view is the easier one to pair, because its register is graphic.
How are these posters printed?
Each poster is printed to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, using low-emission inks. It comes in 21x30, 30x40, 50x70 and 70x100 cm, on its own or with its frame.
