Posters La Rochelle

La Rochelle as seen by our artists: the stone towers of the old harbour, the clear sky and the Atlantic light. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your La Rochelle poster

Which La Rochelle poster should you choose?

La Rochelle comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Old Port towers poster: Saint-Nicolas, the Chain and the Lantern, in silhouette or in line.
  • La Rochelle sailing poster: boats, masts, regattas, an Atlantic feel.
  • La Rochelle map or city plan poster: the harbour, the basins, the arcades traced in line.
  • Vintage La Rochelle poster: seaside advertisements, a thirties feel, retro lettering.
  • Black and white La Rochelle poster: white stone, arcades, contrasts without colour.
  • Charente and Île de Ré poster: huts, marshes, bicycles, a salt and sky palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a La Rochelle poster?

  • Living room: the Old Port towers in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a palette of pale blue and white, calm and marine.
  • Entrance: a vintage seaside advertisement, which sets the tone from the door.
  • Office: a line drawing of the arcades, geometric beside the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of three Atlantic ports, all the same size.

Tip: La Rochelle stone is almost white. On a white wall, give it a dark frame or a grey mount so it does not dissolve.

La Rochelle poster: harbour or seaside?

  • The harbour holds the architecture: towers, quays, arcades, a silhouette recognised at once.
  • The seaside widens things: sails, marshes, low sky, with no identifiable landmark.
  • In an entrance, the harbour names the city straight away.
  • In a bedroom, the seaside settles the room and takes a large size without tiring.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
