Posters modena
Modena as seen by our artists: the vaults of the arcades, the paved squares and the pale stone of the Emilian façades. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your Modena poster
What does our Modena poster show?
One poster makes up this section. It stands under the vaults of the square, and the eye passes between the arches to reach the lit far end. The porticoes are the architecture that makes Emilia, and this view draws its geometry from them: a repetition of arches, a perspective, a bright point at the end.
Which wall colour for a Modena poster?
- The stone and sand tones of the vaults go with light walls, white, linen or warm grey.
- On a dark wall the perspective deepens and the opening at the end becomes very luminous.
- A light wood frame follows the stone; a black frame reinforces the repetition of the arches.
- Living room, study and hallway all work, and an enfilade of hallway answers the repetition of the vaults particularly well.
Which size should you choose?
- 30x40 for a hallway, where the perspective visually extends the passage.
- 50x70 for a study or living room: this is the size at which the arches can be counted.
- 70x100 for a bare wall, when the perspective must be travelled with the eye.
A perspective belongs at eye level: too high, the vanishing point distorts and the effect collapses.
How are these posters printed?
Each poster is printed to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, using low-emission inks. It comes in 21x30, 30x40, 50x70 and 70x100 cm, on its own or with its frame.
