Posters provence

Provence seen by our artists: lavender, olive trees, hilltop villages and summer skies. Each poster is a personal reading of the South, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our studio in Fayence.

Choosing your Provence poster

Which Provence poster should you choose?

Provence comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same story:

  • Vintage Provence poster: old travel advertising, 1930s lettering, terracotta and ochre tones.
  • Provence landscape poster: lavender fields, olive trees, cypresses, the hills of the Luberon.
  • Aix-en-Provence poster: shaded avenues, fountains, ochre facades, the silhouette of Sainte-Victoire.
  • Saint-Remy-de-Provence poster: market squares, plane trees, pale stone.
  • Villages of the Var coast: La Londe-les-Maures, Cavalaire-sur-Mer, Le Pradet, Port-Grimaud, with their harbours and their coves.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Provence poster?

  • Living room: a large lavender or Sainte-Victoire, alone above the sofa.
  • Kitchen: a Provencal market scene, in warm tones.
  • Bedroom: a village or a coastline, in soft rather than saturated shades.
  • Hallway or entrance: a series of harbours or coastal villages, in the same size.
  • Office: a vintage poster, for the travel spirit.

Inland Provence or coastal Provence?

  • Inland plays yellow and violet: lavender, olive trees, markets, ochre stone.
  • The Var coast plays blue and white: Cavalaire-sur-Mer, Le Pradet, Port-Grimaud, boats and coves.
  • On a south-facing wall, the warm inland tones extend the light. On a colder wall, the blue of the coast balances it.
  • The 50x70 gives breadth to a landscape of hills or sea. The 30x40 suits a detail better: a facade, a harbour, an alley.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
