Posters retro

Retro seen by our artists: seventies shapes, orange and brown palettes, rounded typography and period scenes. A retro print gives a room a date without dressing it up. Every print is made to order in our workshop in Fayence, on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish.

Choosing your retro print

Which retro poster should you choose?

  • Vintage retro poster: a washed-out palette, photographic grain, framing from another era.
  • Retro kitchen poster: grocery and coffee advertisements, fruit, shop-sign lettering.
  • Retro city poster: plans, monuments, signs, old tourist posters.
  • Retro advertising poster: period publicity, vanished products, yellowed slogans.
  • Retro black and white poster: portraits, urban scenes, contrast without colour.
  • Retro travel and car poster: airlines, roads, bodywork from another century.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a retro poster?

  • Kitchen: an appetising advertisement or grocery lettering, near the table.
  • Living room: a city or travel poster, in a large size, alone on the main wall.
  • Hallway: a series of advertising posters by the same artist, aligned in the same size.
  • Office: a black and white poster, plain beside the screen.
  • Bedroom: a travel or car scene, more settled than a colourful poster.

Retro or vintage: what is the difference?

  • Vintage shows an old object as it existed at the time.
  • Retro takes up that style today, with a present-day eye and present-day colours.
  • On a recent wall, retro sits better: visually less fragile than strict vintage.
  • The size counts too: an advertisement holds in 30x40, a city scene calls for 50x70.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
