Posters retro
Retro as seen by our artists: aged paper, oranges and ochres, period graphics and seventies travel posters. Each poster is a personal reading of that taste, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with a satin anti-glare finish in our studio in Grasse.
Choosing the right poster
This section brings together what people look for under the terms retro poster and vintage poster: the graphic codes of the 1950s to 1970s, limited palettes, hand-drawn typefaces and the grain of screen printing.
Unlike a reproduction of a period poster, these compositions are new: they borrow the visual language without copying an existing image. That avoids rights issues and allows subjects the 1960s never covered.
The slightly desaturated colours are part of the design choice. They are printed exactly as they are in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 g/m² art paper, with no correction that would make them artificially vivid.
