Large Format Posters

A large poster isn't chosen the way a small one is. Past 50x70, the question is no longer "do I like it" but "can the wall carry it, and does the file hold up at that size." Here's what we actually print, at what price, and what to check before you order.

The large formats we print

Four sizes, plus a four-panel composition. These are dimensions in centimetres, not A-series sizes: we print 30x40, not A3.

  • 50x70 cm, from 24,20 €. The first true large format. It fills a wall section above a low piece of furniture or a single bed's headboard.
  • 70x100 cm, from 35,20 €. A statement piece on its own. Above a three-seater sofa, it's the size that never looks timid.
  • Four 50x70 panels, making 100x140 cm on the wall, from 96,90 €. The same image spread across four sheets, to cover a height no single sheet can reach.

Framing is available up to 70x100: 39 € for 50x70, 79 € for 70x100, in white, black or light oak. Beyond that, we don't offer frames, and the four panels hang unframed, just a few millimetres apart.

Which size for which wall

The rule that works: the poster should take up between half and two thirds of the width of the furniture it hangs above. A 220 cm sofa calls for a 70x100, not a 50x70. A 120 cm sideboard suits a 50x70 perfectly well.

The second factor is viewing distance. A poster is best viewed from roughly one and a half times its diagonal: about 1,30 m for a 50x70, 1,80 m for a 70x100. In a hallway where people pass 80 cm from the wall, a large format is never seen in full.

Our living room posters and our home office posters are the two categories where large format sells best. In the bedroom, the 50x70 remains the most requested.

What large format demands of the file

This is the point most sites stay quiet about. Enlarging an image doesn't create detail: a photo that's 2000 pixels wide printed at 70x100 comes out blurry, and it shows at a metre away.

Our originals are upscaled before printing when needed, and a resolution check will refuse the print rather than deliver it blurry. On a custom poster made from your own photo, the configurator tells you before you order: if the resolution isn't enough for the size you chose, it suggests the next size down instead of letting it through.

The paper, and where it's printed

A large format holds up, or doesn't, depending on its paper. Ours is a 220 g/m² art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, M1 certified, meaning fire resistant and approved for use in venues open to the public. The inks are eco-solvent.

Everything is printed to order in our workshop near Grasse, individually, one poster at a time. Nothing is stocked, nothing comes from a warehouse: that's what lets us keep 1 600 images available in all five formats without printing ahead of time.

Ordering in large format

The size is chosen on each product page, and the price appears before you have to decide anything else. Browse the full catalogue, or enter by subject: photography, abstract, botanical. For an image that's yours, the custom poster accepts the same formats.

Shipping is free from 50 € in France and Europe, and large formats travel rolled in a rigid tube.
