Choosing your burgundy poster
Which burgundy poster should you choose?
Burgundy covers a narrow band of red, from muted garnet to deep purple, and each shade changes the balance of the wall:
- Solid burgundy poster: a single block of colour, simple shape, a bold graphic effect.
- Burgundy and powder pink poster: two intensities of the same red, a soft, contemporary register.
- Burgundy and gold poster: gold lines and blocks on a wine-lees background, a dressed-up register.
- Burgundy botanical poster: foliage and dried flowers in garnet and plum tones.
- Burgundy abstract poster: free shapes, a loaded brush, burgundy and burnt sienna.

Where should you hang burgundy wall decor?

- Dining room: a garnet botanical print near the table, it warms up a north-facing room.
- Bedroom: a burgundy and powder pink piece above the bed, softer than a bright red.
- Office: a burgundy abstract next to the screen, sober and dense at once.
- Entrance: a small solid-colour size, to set a colour right from the threshold.
Tip: burgundy darkens under cold light and turns brown. Under warm light, it regains its garnet tone.
Burgundy, plum or terracotta: which shade to choose?
- Burgundy is a dark red charged with blue: it holds its own against wood panelling and dark wood.
- Plum leans towards purple, it pairs with greys and pinkish beiges.
- Terracotta leans towards orange, it warms a bright room without darkening it.
- On a wall that already has colour, just one of these three shades is enough for the whole wall.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
