Posters cannes

Cannes as seen by our artists: the bay, the sailing boats and the tiled roofs above the Croisette. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Bien choisir votre affiche Cannes

Which Cannes poster should you choose?

Cannes comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same town:

  • Bay of Cannes poster: the town running down to the water, boats at anchor, a high horizon.
  • La Croisette poster: palms, white facades, the seafront.
  • Cannes cinema poster: a festival feel, the carpet, film-poster lettering.
  • Cannes map or town plan poster: the bay, Le Suquet, the Lérins islands in line.
  • Vintage Cannes poster: seaside advertisements, a thirties Riviera feel.
  • Cannes painting poster: visible material, a free touch, blues worked in several values.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Cannes poster?

  • Living room: the bay in a large size, above a sofa or a console.
  • Kitchen or dining room: colour without a complex motif, on a pale wall.
  • Bedroom: a blue, calm palette, with no hard contrast.
  • Entrance: a vintage advertisement, setting the travelling tone from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three Riviera towns, all the same size.

Tip: the blue and orange contrast is enough on its own. A white or cream wall serves it better than a coloured one, which competes with it.

Cannes poster: painting or photograph?

  • Painting shows the material: brushwork, impasto, light built in several values.
  • Photography shows the instant: reflections, sharpness, the detail of boats and facades.
  • A painting wants to be seen close enough for the brushwork to read, so not too high.
  • A photograph takes distance and keeps its detail at 70x100.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
