Choosing your cocktail poster

Which cocktail poster should you choose?

The cocktail comes in several clearly distinct registers, each with its colour and its glass:

  • Aperol Spritz poster: bright orange, the straw, the balloon glass filled with ice.
  • Mojito poster: crushed mint, lime, the bubbles rising.
  • Negroni poster: deep red, a low glass, a twist of orange.
  • Vintage cocktail poster: an old bar advertisement, retro lettering, a sepia or pastel palette.
  • Cocktail recipe poster: drawn ingredients, measures, the pouring gesture, useful near a bar or a kitchen.
  • Gin and tonic, espresso martini, cuba libre: the other classics, each with its own shade and glass shape.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a cocktail poster?

  • Kitchen: a cocktail recipe or a mojito, near the drinks corner.
  • Living room: a vertical size above the bar or the spirits console.
  • Dining room: a series of three classics, in the same size.
  • Veranda or covered terrace: a spritz or a negroni, for the summer mood.
  • Bar corner or wine cellar: a vintage cocktail poster, in a retro tone.

Tip: the vivid colours of a spritz or a negroni stand out better on a pale or neutral wall.

Which size for a cocktail poster?

  • 30x40 for a mojito or a negroni on its own, in the tighter format of the bar.
  • 21x30 for a series of recipes, aligned side by side.
  • 50x70 for an Aperol Spritz writ large, above the bar.
  • The 100x140 polyptych to give a whole stretch of wall over to cocktails.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
