Choosing your kids' bedroom poster

Which kids' room poster should you choose?

The children's room mostly comes down to two worlds, with variations by age:

  • Jungle poster for a baby's or child's room: lion, giraffe, monkey, tropical foliage, bright colours or a pastel palette.
  • Savannah poster for a baby's room: elephant, giraffe, lion, sand and ochre tones, a gentle mood.
  • Safari poster: silhouettes of African animals, beige and khaki green tones, a more stripped-back register.
  • Jungle poster for a boy's room: animals and adventure, bold colours.
  • Montessori poster: simple shapes, bold colours, at the child's eye level.
  • Rainbow and clouds poster: soft flat colours, a reassuring motif, a pastel palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by theme and by mood.

Where should you hang a poster in a child's room?

  • Baby's room: an elephant or a giraffe in soft tones, above the cot.
  • Child's room: a full jungle scene, several animals, on the main wall.
  • Reading corner: a Montessori poster or a rainbow, at the child's eye level.
  • Playroom: several jungle formats grouped into a gallery wall.
  • Hallway: an animal series, same style, same size.

Tip: in a baby's room, a pastel palette ages better than a bright colour chosen for the first few months.

Jungle poster in bright colours or pastel tones?

  • Bright colours suit a child's room that is already set up, they bring rhythm to the wall.
  • Pastel or sand tones suit a baby's room that needs to stay calm and grow with the child.
  • Graphic silhouettes and black and white last longer than a very bold motif.
  • On a wall that is already coloured, a neutral background lets the animals stand out better.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
