Choosing your La Rochelle poster
What does our La Rochelle poster show?
One poster makes up this section. It shows the stone towers of the old harbour under a red sun, the towers that have guarded the entrance to the channel since the Middle Ages. The low Atlantic light cuts out the silhouettes and gives the stone its warm shade: the backlighting is what makes the image.
Which wall colour for a La Rochelle poster?
- The red of the sun and the pale stone go with white, linen and pale grey walls.
- On a deep blue wall the warm and cold contrast reinforces the sunset.
- A light wood frame follows the stone; a black frame sharpens the outline of the towers.
- Living room, bedroom and study all work. It is an end-of-day image, well suited to a room where people sit.
Which size should you choose?
- 21x30 and 30x40 for a bedroom or study, alongside other harbours.
- 50x70 for a living room: the towers take their scale and the sky breathes.
- 70x100 when the poster must hold a light wall on its own, at viewing distance.
A backlit image needs a wall that receives no direct light: reflection would eat its blacks.

Each poster is printed to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, using low-emission inks. It comes in 21x30, 30x40, 50x70 and 70x100 cm, on its own or with its frame.
