Choosing your photographic print

Which photography poster should you choose?

Photography as a poster covers very different registers, and each calls for its own treatment:

  • Landscape photography: mountains, forests, deserts, natural light.
  • Urban photography: streets, facades, architecture, black and white or colour.
  • Wildlife photography: a close-up on a gaze, on the texture of feathers or fur.
  • Personalised photograph: your own shot turned into a photo poster, a portrait or a travel memory.
  • Film and vintage photography: grain, sepia tones, period framing.
  • Large-format photograph: a detail that becomes a wall material at the scale of the room.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a photograph as a poster?

  • Living room: a large-format photograph, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a portrait or a calm landscape, in soft tones above the bed.
  • Office: an urban photograph in black and white, plain beside the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of three personalised photographs, same size, same subject.
  • Entrance: a travel shot that sets the tone from the door.

Tip: unlike a drawing, a photograph keeps all its detail even in a large size. It is the subject that gains from being seen from afar.

Which size for a photo poster?

  • 21x30 for a portrait or a close detail, in a series or alone.
  • 50x70 and 70x100 for a landscape or an urban photograph that needs space.
  • 30x40 for a personalised photograph in a hallway or above a desk.
  • The 100x140 polyptych for a large-format photograph that structures a whole wall.

All our photography posters are printed on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish, to restore the contrast and the depth of a photograph without stray reflections.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
