Choosing your home office poster

Which office poster should you choose?

What goes on an office wall answers different needs, depending on what it has to produce:

  • Professional office poster: quotations from leaders, world maps, symbols of achievement.
  • Motivational poster: short sentences, strong type, a message that carries across the room.
  • Humorous office poster: trade in-jokes, open-plan situations, deliberate second degree.
  • Minimalist poster: geometric shapes, a plain palette, holding its own in a room full of screens.
  • Architecture or skyline poster: cities, high-rises, vertical lines that structure the eye.
  • Typographic poster: one word, one figure, one office rule set down in a single sentence.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang an office poster?

  • Private office: a vertical size within the field of view, never behind your back.
  • Open plan: one identical series across several desks, to unify the space.
  • Meeting room: a large plain size, visible from the table.
  • Entrance or reception: what sets the tone before anyone even enters the offices.
  • Office door: a small size, a sentence or a symbol that identifies the room.

Tip: on a wall facing daylight, the semi-matte finish of the 270 g photo paper keeps the text readable without stray reflections.

Which size for an office poster?

  • 21x30 for a discreet touch beside a screen or on a door.
  • 30x40 for a private office, at eye level from the chair.
  • 50x70 for a meeting room, where the viewing distance is greater.
  • The 100x140 polyptych for a reception wall that has to make its mark straight away.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
