Posters venice

Venice as seen by our artists: the gothic windows, the bridges and the reflections in the canals. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Bien choisir votre affiche Venise

Which Venice poster should you choose?

Venice comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Venice canals poster: gondolas, bridges, facades diving into the water.
  • Gothic windows poster: pointed arches, mullions, the stone lacework of the palaces.
  • Saint Mark's Square poster: the basilica, the campanile, the Procuratie arcades.
  • Venice map or city plan poster: the lagoon, the Grand Canal, the sestieri in line.
  • Venice carnival poster: masks, capes, deep colours, a festive spirit.
  • Venice watercolour poster: melted material, supple outlines, a pink and sea-green palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Venice poster?

  • Living room: a canal in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Bathroom: water and reflections, the right motif for a small damp room.
  • Bedroom: a pink and sea-green palette, soft, with no hard contrast.
  • Entrance: a map of Venice, to place the city from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three windows or facades, same size and same frame.

Tip: a composition in vignettes, several views in one poster, is looked at closely. Place it where people pass slowly, not at the far end of a room.

Venice poster: wide view or architectural detail?

  • The wide view holds the city: canal, gondola, campanile, recognised at once.
  • The detail holds the material: a window, an arch, a reflection, at eye level.
  • On a large wall, the wide view carries alone and gives the depth.
  • At a small size, the detail keeps its legibility where a wide view closes up.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
