Astronaut as seen by our artists: the white spacesuit, the Earth suspended in the dark and the helmet reflecting the sun. Each poster is a personal reading of space exploration, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your astronaut poster
Which astronaut poster should you choose?
The astronaut comes in several registers, between historic feat and graphic aesthetic:
- Realistic astronaut poster: spacesuit, reflective helmet, technical details of the suit.
- Astronaut in weightlessness poster: spacewalk, Earth in the background.
- Neil Armstrong poster or Buzz Aldrin poster: the first step on the Moon, the Apollo 11 mission.
- Soviet cosmonaut poster, or cosmonaut poster: Gagarin, retro aesthetic, red and space propaganda.
- Thomas Pesquet poster: French astronaut, International Space Station.
- Graphic astronaut poster: clean silhouette, flat colours, stylised helmet.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang an astronaut poster?
- Living room: a large size on the main wall, for an interior that owns a spectacular subject.
- Children's room: a gentle illustration of space, without heavy technical detail.
- Teen's room: a Thomas Pesquet or Neil Armstrong poster, portrait or mission scene.
- Office: a cosmonaut or a mission shot, understated beside the screen.
- Hallway: a series on the space theme, in the same size.
Realistic or illustrated astronaut poster?
- Mission photograph: archive shot, black and white or period colours, visible grain.
- Graphic illustration: stylised silhouette, flat colours, simplified helmet.
- The realistic suits an office or an understated room, the illustrated suits a child's bedroom.
- A large-size astronaut space poster carries the immensity of the subject better than a small print.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
