Posters beauvais

Beauvais as seen by our artists: the unfinished cathedral, its flying buttresses and the pale stone. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Bien choisir votre affiche Beauvais

Which Beauvais poster should you choose?

Beauvais comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same town:

  • Beauvais cathedral poster: the tallest Gothic choir in Europe, flying buttresses seen from below.
  • Gothic architecture poster: piers, pinnacles, bays, the geometry of stone.
  • Beauvais map or town plan poster: the Thérain, the centre, the districts traced in line.
  • Black and white Beauvais poster: grey stone, cast shadows, contrasts without colour.
  • Vintage Beauvais poster: old advertisements, a tapestry and manufactory feel.
  • Picardy and Oise poster: countryside, bell towers, a field and chalk palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Beauvais poster?

  • Office: architecture seen from below, which carries a long moment of attention.
  • Hallway: the verticality works for you, a tall size fills a narrow wall.
  • Living room: the cathedral in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Entrance: a map of Beauvais, to place the town from the door.
  • Stairwell: the height of the building recovers its scale there.

Tip: a vertical image does not take being hung too high. The vanishing point should stay above the eye, not out of reach.

Beauvais poster: whole landmark or detail?

  • The whole landmark gives the scale: the nave, the piers, the sky around.
  • The detail keeps the material: ribs, tracery, the shadow of a pinnacle.
  • On a large wall, the whole landmark carries alone and imposes its vertical.
  • At a small size, the detail keeps its legibility where a wide view closes up.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
