Choosing your beige poster

Which beige poster should you choose?

Beige is not one colour but a family of tones, and each register tells something else:

  • Beige nature poster: dunes, deserts, relief and minerals in one sand range.
  • Beige abstract poster: flat colour, simple shapes, tone-on-tone gradations.
  • Beige and white poster: soft contrast, almost monochrome, for a pared-back wall.
  • Beige and black poster: a black line or motif that comes to structure the beige.
  • Calligraphic and oriental motifs in beige: arabesques and verses in sand tones.
  • Plain beige poster: a flat colour or a gradation, with no figurative motif.

Where should you hang a beige poster?

  • Living room: a beige and white poster, on a pale wall, to open up the space.
  • Bedroom: a beige nature or abstract poster, a restful tone above the bed.
  • Entrance: a beige and black contrast, which catches the eye in passing.
  • Office: a plain beige tone, discreet beside the screen.
  • Dining room: oriental or calligraphic motifs in beige, warm above the table.

Tip: beige changes with the evening light, and can turn grey under a cold lamp. Check how it looks under the room's real light before deciding where it goes.

Which size for a beige poster?

  • 30x40 for a discreet touch, a tone that does not dominate the room.
  • 50x70 for a wall that needs a real marker, without a loud colour.
  • 21x30 in a series of three, for a run of beiges that answer one another.
  • The 100x140 polyptych to dress a whole wall without weighing it down.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
