Posters design

Design as seen by our artists: objects and lines pared back to the essential. Each poster is a personal reading of this graphic language, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your design poster

Which design poster should you choose?

Design covers several distinct registers, carried by names and movements you'll recognise:

  • Graphic design poster: composition of shapes and typography, a legacy of Cassandre and 1950s advertising posters.
  • William Morris poster: repeated floral motifs, Art Nouveau arabesques, a legacy of English textile design.
  • Signed designer poster: Ronan Bouroullec or Charlotte Perriand, the clean line of product and furniture design.
  • Flat design poster: bold flat colours, simple geometric shapes, a contemporary, minimal spirit.
  • Colourful design poster or black and white design poster: the same motif changes register depending on the palette chosen.
  • Design kitchen poster or design restaurant poster: a stylised still life, everyday objects rendered in flat colour.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a design poster?

  • Living room: a large graphic design poster above the sofa, to set the tone of the room.
  • Kitchen: a design kitchen poster, in a vertical size near the table.
  • Office: a signed designer poster, understated, next to the screen.
  • Entrance: a graphic design poster or a Viking poster, for a welcome with character.
  • Hallway: a series of flat design posters in the same size, to give the wall rhythm.

Graphic design poster or designer poster: what is the difference?

  • The graphic design poster names a composition: shapes, typography and colours arranged as an exercise in graphic design.
  • The designer poster names a person: Ronan Bouroullec, Charlotte Perriand, or a house such as Prada, whose visual world becomes a poster.
  • The architecture design poster and the typographic design poster stay in the first register: they compose, they do not sign.
  • The Prisunic poster or the vintage design advertising poster belong to both at once: a designer was already behind the advertisement.
  • For a sport design poster or a modern poster, the choice rests on the composition more than on the signature.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
