Owl as seen by our artists: the two birds of prey and the autumn leaves carried on the wind. Each poster is a personal reading of the animal world, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.
Choosing your owl poster
Which owl poster should you choose?
The owl comes in several quite distinct styles, and one owl poster does not necessarily look like another:
- Graphic illustration owl poster: geometric shapes, flat colours, a stylised silhouette.
- Watercolour owl poster: detailed plumage, soft gradients, a painted look.
- Naturalist plate or ornithological engraving: vintage style, fine hatching, a Latin caption.
- Scandinavian owl poster: clean lines, a neutral palette, a Nordic feel.
- Black and white wildlife photography: a piercing gaze, the texture of the plumage.
- Nocturnal owl poster: forest, moon, a dark and hushed mood.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang an owl poster?
- Children's room: an illustrated owl in soft colours, a gentle watcher above the bed.
- Adult bedroom: a watercolour or a black and white piece, above the headboard.
- Living room: a naturalist plate in a large size, alone on a pale wall.
- Office: a graphic owl, understated, next to the screen.
- Entrance or hallway: a series of several sizes in the same style.
Owl poster: illustration or wildlife photography?
Illustration softens the subject: it suits a children's room or an interior that seeks gentleness rather than realism. Wildlife photography and the naturalist plate, meanwhile, rely on the detail of the plumage and the animal's gaze, a look that finds its place more readily in a living room or an office with a bolder tone. On a wall already busy with patterns, a graphic illustration with simple flat colours stands out more than a photograph rich in detail.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
