Posters Quimper
Quimper as seen by our artists: the cathedral spires on the banks of the Odet and the embroidered coif. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.
Choosing your Quimper poster
Which Quimper poster should you choose?
Quimper comes in several registers, carried by motifs and styles that are easy to recognise:
- Quimper faience poster: Breton motifs painted by hand, the blues and yellows typical of the local pottery.
- Saint-Corentin cathedral poster: Gothic spires, rose window, a front view or an angled one.
- Hortense poster: an illustrated character, a round and colourful line, a tender register.
- The otter poster: wildlife of the Odet, an animal silhouette along the water.
- Breton headdress and costume poster: embroidery, lace, a traditional portrait.
- Quimper map poster: plan of the historic centre, the Locmaria district and the banks of the Odet.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a Quimper poster?
- Living room: a large-format view of the cathedral, above the sofa.
- Children's room: Hortense or the otter, for a soft and lively mood.
- Kitchen: a faience motif, echoing Breton crockery.
- Entrance: the map of Quimper, to set the tone from the doorstep.
- Hallway: a series of Breton motifs, in the same size.
Quimper poster in colour or black and white?
- The blue and yellow of the faience carry the local colour and are best kept in colour.
- The cathedral lends itself to black and white, which brings out the Gothic lines.
- On an already busy wall, black and white calms the whole.
- On a neutral wall, colour recalls Brittany and the Odet more strongly.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
