Posters strasbourg

Strasbourg as seen by our artists: the pink sandstone cathedral, the canals and the cable-stayed bridge. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Bien choisir votre affiche Strasbourg

Which Strasbourg poster should you choose?

Strasbourg comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Strasbourg cathedral poster: the single spire in pink sandstone, stone lacework.
  • Petite France poster: half-timbering, canals, locks, reflections in the water.
  • Cable-stayed bridge poster: the white pylon against the sky, contemporary architecture on the Rhine.
  • Strasbourg map or city plan poster: the Ill, the Grande Île, the districts traced in line.
  • Vintage Strasbourg poster: old advertisements, the Christmas market, Alsatian lettering.
  • Alsace and Strasbourg poster: vineyards, villages, a wood and geranium palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Strasbourg poster?

  • Living room: Petite France or the cathedral in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Office: the cable-stayed pylon, frank and geometric beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a map of Strasbourg, to place the city from the door.
  • Dining room: half-timbering agrees with the wood of the table without hardening it.
  • Hallway: a series of three Alsatian towns, same size and same frame.

Tip: pink sandstone shifts with the light. Under a warm lamp it turns orange, under a neutral light it finds its grey-pink again.

Strasbourg poster: heritage or contemporary?

  • Heritage holds the old town: spire, half-timbering, canals, an older scale.
  • The contemporary holds the other Strasbourg: stays, glass, Europe, taut lines.
  • In a classic living room, heritage agrees with mouldings without effort.
  • In an office or a pared-back interior, the contemporary holds alone and reads fast.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
