Posters dresden

Dresden as seen by our artists: the baroque scrolls, the domes and the line of the Elbe. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Bien choisir votre affiche Dresde

Which Dresden poster should you choose?

Dresden comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Elbe skyline poster: domes and spires lined along the river, seen from the far bank.
  • Frauenkirche poster: the rebuilt stone dome, alone or in its square.
  • Baroque Dresden poster: scrolls, pediments, Zwinger sculpture, an ornament detail.
  • Dresden map or city plan poster: the Elbe, the bridges, the districts traced in line.
  • Line-drawn Dresden poster: the city in one continuous line, pared back on a pale ground.
  • Black and white Dresden poster: dark stone, a wide sky, contrasts without colour.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Dresden poster?

  • Living room: the Elbe skyline in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Office: a line drawing, calm and legible beside the screen.
  • Dining room: a baroque detail, dense, meant to be looked at while seated.
  • Entrance: a map of Dresden, to place the city from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three German cities, same size and same frame.

Tip: a city skyline is very horizontal. It asks for width: above a sofa or a sideboard, never in a narrow space between two doors.

Dresden poster: skyline or baroque detail?

  • The skyline gives the whole city: domes, towers, river, in a single reading.
  • The baroque detail gives the material: carved stone, shadow, curve, at eye level.
  • On a large wall, the skyline carries alone and imposes its horizontal.
  • At a small size, the detail keeps its legibility where the skyline would shrink to a line.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
