Posters lisbon

Lisbon as seen by our artists: the azulejos, the kiosks and the lanes sloping down to the Tagus. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Bien choisir votre affiche Lisbonne

Which Lisbon poster should you choose?

Lisbon comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Azulejo poster: the blue and white tile, a repeated motif, a whole facade or a detail.
  • Tram 28 poster: the yellow car in a sloping street, the most asked-for scene.
  • Alfama and miradouros poster: tiled roofs, washing at the windows, a view over the Tagus.
  • Lisbon map or city plan poster: the river, the hills, the districts traced in line.
  • Vintage Lisbon poster: kiosks, old advertisements, Portuguese lettering.
  • Black and white Lisbon poster: calçada paving, facades, contrasts without colour.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Lisbon poster?

  • Kitchen: an azulejo motif, graphic and bright, answering the tiling.
  • Living room: a view of the roofs or the Tagus in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Entrance: the yellow tram, recognised at once from the door.
  • Bedroom: a pink and beige palette, soft, turned towards southern light.
  • Hallway: a series of three Lisbon districts, same size and same frame.

Tip: azulejo blue is frank and cool. On a beige wall it warms, on a white wall it cuts: both work, but not in the same way.

Lisbon poster: motif or street scene?

  • The azulejo motif decorates: repetition, geometry, a calm and regular reading.
  • The street scene tells a story: tram, slope, washing, figures, a precise moment.
  • In a kitchen or a bathroom, the motif agrees with the tiling without competing.
  • In an entrance or a living room, the street scene names the city straight away.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
