Posters metz
Metz as seen by our artists: the Jaumont stone, the cathedral and the arms of the Moselle. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Bien choisir votre affiche Metz
Which Metz poster should you choose?
Metz comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:
- Metz cathedral poster: the most glazed nave in France, Jaumont stone and coloured light.
- Centre Pompidou-Metz poster: the hat of wood and canvas, contemporary architecture.
- Moselle and quays poster: the river, the bridges, the water in the centre.
- Metz map or city plan poster: the Moselle, the island, the districts traced in line.
- Metz portrait and city poster: face and landmark intertwined, graphic illustration.
- Black and white Metz poster: yellow stone worked in values, contrasts without colour.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a Metz poster?
- Living room: the cathedral or the Moselle in a large size, alone above the sofa.
- Office: a graphic composition, frank beside the screen.
- Entrance: a map of Metz, to place the city from the door.
- Bedroom: a blue and orange palette, soft, with no hard contrast.
- Hallway: a series of three eastern French cities, same size and same frame.
Tip: Jaumont stone is yellow. On a yellow or mustard wall it disappears; on a grey, blue or white wall it takes on its full warmth.
Metz poster: landmark or graphic illustration?
- The landmark holds the city: cathedral, gate, bridge, recognisable at first glance.
- Graphic illustration composes: intertwined shapes, flat areas, a freer reading.
- In an entrance, the landmark names the place straight away.
- In an office or a contemporary living room, the illustration fits without looking like a postcard.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
