Oslo as seen by our artists: the Opera on the fjord, the red and cream façades of the centre, the continuous line of the harbour and the floating planes of the quay. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your Oslo poster
What does our Oslo poster show?
Four posters make up this section, and they all look at the city from the harbour:
- The harbour in floating planes: quays, hulls and a low sun broken into overlapping surfaces.
- The brown line on ivory: the same city reduced to a single continuous line, with no flat colour.
- The street corner under the clouds: a facade, an angle, the low sky of the North Sea coast.
- The Opera on the fjord: the sloping roof of the white building and the water leaning against it.
Two registers answer each other, then: the geometry of the harbour and the restraint of the line.
Which wall colour for an Oslo poster?
- Ivories and light browns go with white, linen and pale grey walls, in the Scandinavian spirit these views come from.
- The cold blues of the fjord hold on a strong wall, deep blue or fir green, where warm tones would fade.
- Light wood, birch or bleached oak, is the truest frame for this family.
- Living room, study and bedroom all work: these are calm images, with no point of tension.
One poster or several?
- The brown line and the Opera pair well: the same restraint, two different densities.
- Two harbour views at the same size make a legible pair above a sofa.
- All four hold as a two-by-two grid, in 30x40, if the wall is wide enough.
How are these posters printed?
Each poster is printed to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, using low-emission inks. It comes in 21x30, 30x40, 50x70 and 70x100 cm, on its own or with its frame.
