Posters Oslo

Oslo as seen by our artists: the Opera on the fjord, the red and cream façades of the centre, the continuous line of the harbour and the floating planes of the quay. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Oslo poster

Which Oslo poster should you choose?

Oslo comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Oslo opera house poster: the sloping white roof running down into the fjord, Nordic architecture.
  • Oslo fjord poster: water, islands, boats, the low light of a Scandinavian winter.
  • Minimalist Oslo poster: plain flat areas, few shapes, the spirit of Nordic design.
  • Oslo map or city plan poster: the fjord, the peninsula, the districts traced in line.
  • Black and white Oslo poster: facades, snow, dry contrasts without colour.
  • Norway and Oslo poster: mountains, forests, a fir and ice palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang an Oslo poster?

  • Living room: a view of the fjord in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a cool, calm palette, pale blue, grey and white.
  • Office: a minimalist composition, which does not compete with the screen for attention.
  • Entrance: a map of Oslo, to place the city from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three Nordic capitals, same size and same frame.

Tip: a cool palette cools a room that is already grey. Balance it with a light oak frame, which warms without changing the image.

Oslo poster: architecture or nature?

  • Architecture keeps the opera house, the facades, the clean lines of the contemporary city.
  • Nature keeps the fjord, the islands and the forest, with no identifiable building.
  • On an office wall, architecture reads fast and stays plain.
  • In a bedroom, nature settles the room and takes a large size without ever tiring.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
