Choosing your quotes poster

Which quotation poster should you choose?

A quotation changes register according to what it says, and the choice comes before the colour of the wall:

  • Motivational quotation: short phrases that give impetus, to get up, to start, to hold on.
  • Positive, happiness and love quotation: words that soothe, turned towards gratitude or the gentleness of everyday life.
  • Humorous quotation: a light tone, phrases that raise a smile in passing.
  • Film and character quotation: cult lines from Disney, Asterix or the Little Prince.
  • Philosophical and spiritual quotation: thoughts from Einstein, Nelson Mandela, Coco Chanel, or a meditative saying.
  • Personalised quotation: a first name, a date, a family phrase printed to order.

Where should you hang a quotation poster?

  • Entrance: a welcoming quotation, to set the tone of the house.

Tip: a short quotation reads better in a small size. A long quotation needs space to breathe, so plan wider.

A quotation to print yourself or a poster already made?

  • A quotation printed at home depends on the printer and the paper of the moment, with a result that varies from page to page.
  • A quotation poster is held on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish, from 21x30 to 70x100, up to the 100x140 polyptych for a phrase that occupies a whole wall.
  • A quotation in French keeps its original music. A quotation in English often agrees with a pared-back interior.
  • The personalised version adds a first name or a date, without touching the original layout.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
