Salamanca as seen by our artists: the cathedral at the end of the arcades, the golden sandstone of the façades and the raking light of the squares. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your Salamanca poster
What does our Salamanca poster show?
One poster makes up this section. It looks at the cathedral from under an arcade, framed by the stone: the opening acts as a dark foreground, and the facade is revealed at the far end, in the light. It is the golden Villamayor sandstone that gives the city its colour, and this view makes it the main subject.
Which wall colour for a Salamanca poster?
- Stone and sand tones warm a white, cream or light grey wall.
- On a strong wall, olive green or slate blue, the lit facade gains a great deal of presence.
- A light or natural wood frame extends the stone; black sharpens the sense of an opening in the arcade.
- Living room, study and hallway all work. The arcade framing works particularly well along an enfilade.
Which size should you choose?
- 30x40 for a hallway or entrance, where the depth alone gives the wall air.
- 50x70 for a study or living room: the stone tracery of the facade becomes legible.
- 70x100 when the poster must hold a large wall on its own, and the arcade serves as a window.
An image built on an opening asks to be seen head-on: avoid walls that are only crossed at an angle.
How are these posters printed?
Each poster is printed to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, using low-emission inks. It comes in 21x30, 30x40, 50x70 and 70x100 cm, on its own or with its frame.
