Posters still life
Still life as seen by our artists: the standing vases, the fruit on the table and the low morning light. Each poster is a personal reading of the still life, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your still life poster
Which still life poster should you choose?
Still life covers several registers, each with its own atmosphere:
- Classic still life poster: fruit, decanters and draperies, an oil composition.
- Flowers and bouquet: peonies or dried flowers, a soft palette and muted light.
- Fish and oyster: a briny register, pearl grey and shells.
- Kitchen and crockery: ceramics, bread, a wooden board, a rustic mood.
- Contemporary still life: clean shapes, flat colour, a minimal composition.
- Japanese or wabi-sabi still life: simple objects, an emptiness it owns, raw tones.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a still life poster?
- Kitchen: a fruit or a vegetable composition, near the table.
- Dining room: a vertical size, in a series of two or three.
- Living room: a contemporary still life, in a large size above the sideboard.
- Bedroom: a bouquet in soft tones, never too busy a subject.
- Entrance: a small composition, for a first accent without overloading the wall.
Still life poster solo or as a diptych?
A single piece, in a large size, carries the wall on its own and suits a living room or a dining room that is already furnished. A diptych or triptych spreads the composition across several aligned frames and suits a long wall or a hallway better. On a wall already loaded with furniture, a single poster avoids a saturated effect. On a bare wall, the series creates a rhythm that the single piece does not give.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
