Which Verona poster should you choose?
Verona comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:
- Verona arena poster: the Roman amphitheatre, repeated arches, pink stone.
- Fortified gate poster: the city gates on the road, towers and battlements.
- Adige and bridges poster: the river, the Ponte Pietra, the banks and the reflections.
- Verona map or city plan poster: the Adige loop, the old town, the streets in line.
- Romantic Verona poster: balconies, inner courtyards, the spirit of the most quoted scene.
- Veneto and Verona poster: hills, vines, an earth and olive palette.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a Verona poster?
- Living room: the arena or the river in a large size, alone above the sofa.
- Dining room: the earth and olive palette agrees with the wood of the table.
- Office: a repeated arcade, geometric and calm beside the screen.
- Entrance: a fortified gate, a threshold motif that lands right at the door.
- Hallway: a series of three Veneto cities, same size and same frame.
Tip: a row of arches takes a large size very well: the wider the image, the more the rhythm reads. It is the opposite of a dense drawing, which closes up as it grows.
Verona poster: ancient or romantic?
- The ancient holds the stone: amphitheatre, gates, arches, Roman scale.
- The romantic holds the scene: balcony, courtyard, soft shadow, a more intimate register.
- On a large wall, the ancient imposes its rhythm and reads from a distance.
- In a bedroom or an entrance, the romantic works at eye level.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
