Choosing your bedroom poster

Which bedroom poster should you choose?

The bedroom takes in clearly distinct registers, and they do not speak to the same sleep:

  • Adult bedroom poster: pared-back shapes, a muted palette, nothing that catches the eye on waking.
  • Headboard poster: a wide, centred motif, meant to command the bed without weighing it down.
  • Nursery poster: soft tones, round motifs, animals or simple shapes.
  • Teenage bedroom poster: typography, portraits, more assertive worlds.
  • Main bedroom poster: plain compositions, often in a series, for a wall at rest.
  • XXL or panoramic wall poster: one large size that replaces several frames.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a bedroom poster?

  • Above the bed: a headboard size, centred, in calm colours.
  • Child's or baby's room: a soft motif, at eye level from the bed.
  • Teenager's room: a whole wall given over to it, with more marked worlds.
  • Main bedroom: a plain series, for a set that breathes.
  • A small reading corner or desk in the bedroom: a more modest size, as a complement.

Tip: in a bedroom, a colour that soothes serves better than a motif that catches the attention before sleep.

Which size for a bedroom poster?

  • 50x70 or 70x100 for a headboard, which needs width above the mattress.
  • 30x40 for a secondary wall or a child's room.
  • Three 21x30 in a line for a series above a chest of drawers.
  • The 100x140 polyptych for a main bedroom wall treated as a single piece.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
