Posters Brest

Brest as seen by our artists: the concrete of the bridges, the open roadstead and the clear light of Finistère. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Brest poster

Which Brest poster should you choose?

Brest comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Recouvrance bridge poster: the red deck and its pylons, above the Penfeld.
  • Maritime Brest poster: the roadstead, sailing ships, tugs, the rigging of the maritime festivals.
  • Brest architecture poster: the cable-stayed pylon, post-war concrete, frank lines.
  • Brest map or city plan poster: the roadstead, the peninsula, the districts traced in line.
  • Black and white Brest poster: a Breton sky, quays, contrasts without colour.
  • Brittany and Brest poster: lighthouses, coast, granite, in the same spirit.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Brest poster?

  • Living room: a view of the roadstead, alone above the sofa, where the sky has room.
  • Office: an architectural composition, frank and legible beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a map of Brest, to place the roadstead from the door.
  • Hallway: a series of three Breton posters, same size and same frame.
  • Bedroom: a calm sea view, with no dense technical detail.

Tip: a Breton sky often takes half the image. Do not press the frame against a low ceiling, or the sky loses its breath.

Brest poster: maritime or architecture?

  • The maritime register tells the roadstead: boats, swell, shifting light.
  • The architectural register holds the structure: stays, concrete, the geometry of the port.
  • On a living room wall, the sea gives depth and takes a large size.
  • On an office wall, architecture reads fast and does not pull attention away.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
