Which Mons poster should you choose?

Mons comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same town:

• Mons belfry poster: the baroque tower on the hill, the town's most recognisable silhouette.
• Grand-Place poster: the town hall, the gables, the open square at the foot of the climb.
• Mons map or town plan poster: the ring-shaped centre, the ramparts, the streets traced in line.
• Sainte-Waudru collegiate church poster: Brabantine Gothic, a high nave, pale stone.
• Black and white Mons poster: cobbles, facades, contrasts without colour.
• Hainaut and Mons poster: slag heaps, countryside, an earth and green palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Mons poster?

• Living room: the circular plan or the Grand-Place, alone above the sofa.
• Office: a town plan, precise and calm beside the screen.
• Entrance: the belfry, recognised at once from the door.
• Hallway: a series of three Walloon towns, same size and same frame.
• Bedroom: a blue and beige palette, settled, with no hard contrast.

Tip: a circular plan is looked at closely, like a map. Place it at eye level, somewhere people stop, not above a door.

Mons poster: plan or landmark?

• The plan tells the shape of the town: ring, streets, squares, a slow and precise reading.
• The landmark tells its silhouette: belfry, spire, gables, an immediate reading.
• In a hallway or an entrance, the landmark names the place in a second.
• In an office or a room where people sit, the plan holds the eye for longer.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

• With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
• Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
