Which Noirmoutier poster should you choose?
Noirmoutier brings together two quite distinct registers. On one side, the seaside with its beaches and the colourful beach huts of the Bois de la Chaise. On the other, the inland areas with the salt marshes and their mounds of salt, a more mineral and silent world. Where to hang it?
In the living room, a large poster of the salt marshes or the Bois de la Chaise in 70x100 creates a soothing focal point without overloading the wall. For the entryway, a 30x40 format showing the white houses sets the tone from the moment you walk in. In a bedroom, a soft composition of the colourful beach huts complements a reading corner. In the office, a small 21x30 of the Passage du Gois keeps a sense of escape alive between meetings.
Tip: pair a marsh motif with a seaside motif to tell both sides of the island's story on the same wall.
Marsh or seaside?
Should you favour the sea horizon of the beaches and beach huts, or the settled geometry of the salt marshes? Both tell a different side of Noirmoutier: the movement of the sea on one hand, the patient work of salt on the other.
If you're unsure, choose according to the light in the room: a seaside scene brightens up a dull wall, while a salt marsh brings restraint to a space that's already bright.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
