Choosing your terracotta print

Which terracotta poster should you choose?

The terracotta colour comes in several registers, and they do not look alike:

  • Terracotta abstract poster: wide shapes, gradations, raw flat areas.
  • Terracotta rainbow poster: bands of colour, terracotta paired with other warm tones.
  • Organic line: curves, arches, motifs inspired by ceramics.
  • Terracotta still life: pottery, vases, simple shapes set on a plain ground.
  • Terracotta nursery poster: soft motifs, round shapes, a palette softened for a child's room.
  • Desert landscape: dunes, rocks, a graded sky in the same tones as fired earth.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a terracotta poster?

  • Living room: a terracotta abstract in a large size, above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: an organic motif or a still life, for a calm mood.
  • Nursery: a soft motif with round shapes, in a small or medium size.
  • Entrance: a terracotta rainbow poster, to set the tone from the threshold.
  • Dining room: a still life of pottery, at eye level.

Tip: terracotta goes well with beige, sand or off-white walls. On a wall that is already orange or red, it tends to disappear.

Terracotta poster or terracotta print: what is the difference?

  • Both words mean the same thing here: a wall poster printed on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish.
  • The choice of size counts more than the word used: 21x30 or 30x40 for a wall that is already busy, 50x70 or 70x100 for a bare wall that needs a focal point.
  • For a series or a panorama, the 100x140 polyptych covers a wide stretch of wall across several panels.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
