What the south does to a room

Our Mediterranean posters do not tell a journey, they keep its light. Ochre of sun warmed walls, muted green of olive trees, faded blue of a midday horizon: these are the colours that soften a room that is still too new. We print them in Fayence, on a matte paper that absorbs light instead of returning it.

A framed poster above a wooden console, and two posters above a linen sofa

Where to hang them

One large poster above a console is enough to give a hallway its direction. Above a sofa, two identical sizes in identical frames hold better than a clever arrangement. Allow roughly two thirds of the width of the furniture, and leave a hand's height between the back of the sofa and the bottom of the frame.

Two framed posters above a sofa, and a village lane with bougainvillea
Two hands adjusting a light oak frame on a wall
A pine leaning over the sea, late in the day

What goes with them

Terracotta, raw wood and undyed linen call for these images without effort. If the room is already busy, one poster in a light oak frame is enough. If it is bare, a pair sets the rhythm, and the eye rests there.
