Posters abstract

Abstract art seen by our artists: free shapes, flat colour, painted gestures and geometry. An abstract print gives a wall a focal point without imposing a subject. Every print is made to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish.

Choosing your abstract wall art

Which abstract print to choose?

With no subject to recognise, colour and gesture do all the work:

  • Painted abstract: material, visible strokes, impasto.
  • Black and white abstract wall art: two values, sharp contrast, nothing else.
  • Blue or green abstract: washes, depth, calm.
  • Contemporary abstract: broad gesture, full format, few colours.
  • Free shapes and arches: curves, terracotta, beige, cast shadows.
  • Geometry: straight lines, angles, two or three colours.
  • Minimalism: one line, one flat colour, plenty of empty space.

The filters on the left narrow by dominant colour, style and mood.

Where to hang abstract wall art?

  • Living room: the truest place, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a soft abstract, in beige or blue, never a hard contrast.
  • Office: quiet geometry behind the screen.
  • Entrance: a large format that sets the tone from the door.
  • Hallway: three abstracts of the same family, in a row.

Tip: an abstract needs empty space around it. Do not put it in the middle of a crowded wall.

Which abstract colour with which wall?

  • White wall: everything works, it is the most neutral ground.
  • Beige or sand wall: favour terracotta and browns.
  • Dark wall: a pale abstract, never a contrasted black and white.
  • Coloured wall: stay within one family of shades, not two.

Poster, print or wall picture: what is the difference?

Here the three words mean the same thing: an image you hang on the wall. We say print because we print on art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • Framed: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Unframed: the sheet alone, to slide into a frame you already own.
