Choosing your football poster

Which football poster should you choose?

  • Club poster: the crest and colours of a club, such as RC Lens, Olympique de Marseille, Stade Rennais, OL or FC Nantes.
  • World Cup poster: one precise edition, 1998, 2006 or 2022, a round of 16 or last 16 poster.
  • Player portrait: a gesture, a gaze, a career, from Ronaldinho to today's figures.
  • Vintage poster: retro layout, period lettering, a washed-out palette.
  • Shirt and objects of the game: a shirt framed like a collector's piece, a ball, a stadium.
  • Personalised poster: a first name, a date, a score to add to the image.

Where should you hang a football poster?

  • Bedroom: a player portrait or a club poster, above the desk or the bed.
  • Living room: a World Cup poster in a large size, visible from the sofa.
  • Office: a vintage poster, plainer than a club's vivid colours.
  • Clubhouse bar or drinks corner: a football bar poster, in the spirit of the third half.
  • Hallway: a series of several World Cup editions, aligned in the same size.

Tip: club colours cut more sharply on a pale wall. On a wall that already has colour, prefer a vintage poster in softer tones.

Club poster or competition poster?

  • The club poster marks a lasting belonging; it has its place all year in a bedroom or a living room.
  • The competition poster tells one precise moment, a World Cup, a final; it also suits a one-off gift.
  • For a child's room where the child supports a club, the crest works better than a player portrait, which is more abstract at that age.
  • The 50x70 suits most football wall posters, the 30x40 suits portraits framed tight on a face or a gesture.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
